We have just finished the second round of our recruitment assessment weekends here at Condover Hall, and the whole team feel they were a great success.
Day 1
The candidates spent some time exploring the grounds and meeting the teams, whilst finding out what will be involved if they are successful. After the initial paperwork was complete they attended a welcome talk to give them a bit of background on the role and what they would be doing over the next couple of days. After this, it was straight in at the deep end taking part in some of the activities they could be instructing themselves in a few months’ time. This also gave the candidates a chance to meet some of our current instructors and ask them all about the role.
Following an afternoon of getting to know each other (and finding out what it feels like to dangle off the tower at the end of a rope), they had a quick presentation with our apprenticeship assessor to find out a bit more about what the apprenticeship will entail. It was then down to the canteen for a well-earned dinner, but there was no let-up as an evening of activities was completed before having the chance to socialise and unwind at the bar.
Day 2
Day 2 started with a hearty breakfast before completing some basic maths and English tests to help ensure all successful candidates have the support they need to complete their apprenticeship.
The candidates then spent some time with the senior staff discussing the role and what they think makes a good instructor. Individuals completed a short presentation to see how they perform when standing up in front of people. We rounded off the two days with a 1:1 session with each of the candidates to find out how they found the whole experience and to ask any questions.
All candidates left with smiles on their faces (and a little weary) while the JCA team reflected on the weekend feeling confident we have found another team of great Condover Hall instructors.
